"Bill" passed away resting comfortably in The Villages, Florida on August 4, 2024. Born the son of an expert carpenter, (William Lovell) and a homemaker, (Rose Lovell) in New York, Bill achieved his BA in 1972 and his MM in 1975 from Cleveland State University. Bill would remain in the Music Department at CSU as an educator and office manager for the next thirty-four years. During his tenure at the college Bill composed the original and current Cleveland State University Alma Mater. Bill is a brother to two surviving sisters, Mary Ann in Ohio and Kathy in California and a father to two surviving sons, Vic in Florida, and William in Ohio. Bill is survived by their spouses, his daughter-in-law Ronda Lovell in Ohio and son-in-law Bray Lindsey in Florida. He also has a brother-in-law, Ritchie Gypsy in Kentucky. Bill is survived by his wife Shirley Mae Lovell, our mother remaining in their Florida home. Bill and Shirley celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2024 despite both enduring life-changing health challenges. Shirley moves forward caring for their three dogs and taking on Bill’s daily regimen of feeding the visiting cardinals who depended on Bill to provide peanuts several times each day. When you think of William James Lovell remember to take a moment and download his favorite Jazz song... "Laura" - When you see a cardinal, please consider feeding it a peanut or two. Rest In Peace Bill ...forever in our hearts.
